Distracted from Your Calling?

In the early days after the founding of the Salvation Army, Thomas Huxley, biologist and skeptic, made an all-out attack on the S.A. and its founder. Bramwell Booth, son of the general was upset greatly.

The elder Booth said that he would not waste his time fighting the critics, lest he be distracted from the call of the Lord on his life. That would fit the plan of the devil, that accuser of the brethren.

"Bramwell," he stated, "50 years from now it will matter very little indeed how these people treated us. It WILL matter a great deal how we dealt with the work of God."

The Lord used the general in a mighty way in a lasting effect upon the UK and by extension the entire world. Why? He did not allow himself to be taken off down a rabbit-trail away from the calling upon his life.

You will always have the chance to be faced with critics and attackers. Aircraft take off INTO the resistance of the wind. Yet no one can take you away from God's calling unless you give them permission by your own words and actions.

If you are a follower of Jesus the anointed King of Kings, then you have one primary purpose: to serve faithfully and obediently, glorifying God. Do NOT allow yourself to be side-tracked or turned away from the Way you are following. Then you, like General Booth, will live a life of power for the one true God.
