A Prayer for Our Government

Children and grand-children should see their elders praying, praising, worshiping and sharing boldly out loud. “Well, that’s just not the way I do it.” Well, then you need to change for their sake and for yours. When you do so, the atmosphere changes. The Lord’s presence is more real to you than at other times. You do not need to be ashamed and embarrassed of the Lord.
Thousands prayed the following prayer Sunday, January 20, 2019, led by Keith Moore of MooreLife Ministries (Faith Life Church, Branson, Missouri and Sarasota, Florida):
- Father God,
- (Congregation affirming each phrase)
- we thank You for our nation and all the blessings, all the freedoms, the prosperity that we enjoy. Thank You for sustaining us, sparing us, protecting us. We’re very thankful.
And Lord we know all the strife and contention in our government is not Your will and is not You, and does not produce what’s best for the country and best for the Church.
So we come against every foul spirit stirring deception and doubt and discord. In Jesus’ Name we command you to stop. Cease in Jesus’ Name! This is our country. We have a right spiritually to exercise this authority. Stop every foul spirit in causing discord and stirring strife and hatred and confusion, and every evil work. We command you to stop in your operations, cease in your maneuvers, in Jesus’ Name. Hallelujah!
Father God, we ask You for wisdom for our leaders: for the President, his family, staff, all the senators, all the representatives, our judges… every one in positions of power and authority. Open their eyes, enlighten their heart and their understanding. Help them to see how vain and how futile it is to do these wrong things. Give ‘em a heart to do what’s right and what’s best for the country, and what is right in Your eyes.
We ask for grace and strength, and comfort and help, and favor for every one that will do what You choose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen! Thank You, Lord! Praise God!
Well, you believe the Lord heard our prayer?
- (Congregation agreeing)
- Well then, every time that you think about it or you see or hear anything on the news, don’t throw ya hands up. Don’t talk unbelief. Say, we prayed.
- [Congregation] We prayed.
- Y’all with me?
- [Congregation] Yes.
- The Lord needs somebody believin’ Him.
- [Congregation] Yes.
- Most of the country is not. The watch the news. They fuss and cuss. That helps nobody. C’mon, y’all with me?
- [Congregation] Yes.
- The Lord needs somebody believin’ Him.
