Where Do You Get Your Bible Knowledge?

I regret that I left one very important and very common (if erroneous) source. Within the Church a large number of souls tend to water down the Word to match their own experience (or lack of it), rather than take the Word at face value. It says what it means and means what it says.

Yes, a woman actually in anger berated a preacher on the truth, saying: "as it says in the song..." Hollywood is notoriously off-base Scripturally when producing movies and shows. More trustworthy are those that are Christian produced, directed and filmed.

Your parents, school textbooks, lectures, and sermons can be good sources in ascending order IF they are based upon solid research of the Scriptures and dedicated to taking the preponderance of Scripture on a matter IN CONTEXT.

Be ever alert for hidden agendas. For any statement to be Scriptural what do you need? Scriptures. A matter is settled by the testimony of two or more credible witnesses in agreement. Be wary of those who do not clearly separate their own opinions from that the Bible says.

Always, always take the "more noble" approach given in Acts 17:11. Do your own homework. With the Bible you've been given the title deed to a gold mine on every facet of life. Pray for the wisdom to dig out every nugget of gold God has in store for you.

One wonderful thing I learned was that the curses of the law (see, for example, Deuteronomy 28) were never God's will for me. Jesus had laid upon Himself during the trial, torture and crucifixion every single one of the curses so that I do not have to have them. For example, poverty is a curse. Sickness is a curse. The list is quite long. No loving father would dump a lot of "bad stuff" on his child, not even to "teach him something." To say that of God would be to make Him malicious and runs counter to the preponderance of Scripture. Now I do not have a corner of my ear for anyone who cannot provide three verses IN CONTEXT to the contrary.
