As I Watched My Wife Sleeping

Tonight I woke up from sleep and took a sip of the water I keep on my night stand. Then I felt led to look at the woman to whom I have committed my life the past fourteen years. I listened to her even breathing as she lay there, her blond hair up in a band for the night. Then I heard a voice inside of me, strong yet gentle:

"My son, as you lay watching your wife sleep tonight and thinking of your whole life together... that is how I watch you. Your tenderness toward her is much as Mine is toward you.

"Remember My words: "He who keeps you will not slumber. He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep."

"I love you the way you love her, only My love is greater and perfect. While you sleep no one else can see you, yet I watch over you. What your heart is feeling right now as you watch her-- what a parent feels watching their little child sleep is just a small picture for you, a gift. This is so that you can know every night before you drift off to sleep My heart for you.

"Think about it. The Creator of everything that is watches protectively over you, and is full to overflowing with love. You would give your very life for her. That is what I did for you.

"Study your Bible every day with a prayerful, faithful heart. You will see that it is My love letter to you. Every passage demonstrates all that I have set up since the beginning of time to provide for all of your needs and good desires. Now, go to sleep in peace My son. Your Father in heaven loves you very much, and something good is going to happen for you tomorrow. Good night."
