Autumn in the Ozarks Mountains -- WOW!

Autumn in the Ozarks Mountains -- what a wonderful experience! Cooler temperatures, occasional rainfall to freshen the air, trees displaying a wide palette of color on the branches and on the ground, squirrels, deer, bear and chipmunks making preparations for the coming Winter...

Our move to the Branson area has proven a rich blessing, and we find ourselves wishing we had done so much earlier. This is an excellent setting for the spirit. The vast majority of the people here are out-of-the-way friendly and helpful. The hilly, winding highways force folks to slow down and perhaps actually see what is passing by around them. Even though we live right on a state highway, we are not all that conscious of traffic other than emergency vehicles responding to calls, bikers traveling singly or in groups and dump trucks slowing for the curve.

We never know from day to day whether we might be treated from the field across the highway to radio control enthusiasts flying their aircraft, hot air balloonists lifting off in flight over Branson, or locals riding their horses through the tall grasses. The inspiration for writers and artists is everywhere, with five major man-made lakes a short distance away (Lake Bull Shoals is at the bottom of our hill, about a half mile). Twenty minutes away we can walk the Branson Landing, watching the fish in and ducks on Table Rock Lake. When I need help with characters and how they interact for my writings we can go to any of the numerous shops, restaurants or other venues in the area (not staring, however... that would be creepy).

Our spiritual growth is increasing rapidly. Thanks to Brother Keith Moore and the Faith Life Church we have close association with others in the body of Christ. The whole culture is faith and family oriented in this area. Yes, God truly is good, and is in the process of restoring to us "The years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust," Joel 2:25 (NKJV)

Carol and I pray His richest blessings on you and yours as you walk in the faith of the Lord.
